Hi Everyone!
I do think it's pretty rubbish having a blog that at least nine of you log into weekly (or maybe it's the same person nine times?) and there's actually nothing here to read. I mean I guess you can browse through the pretty pictures but there are only a certain number of times you can do that isn't there.
So I apologise.
To recap... I returned from China about six weeks ago. The difficulty with writing blogs from China is that they monitor the internet over there. Rumour has it that some 30,000 staff are employed by the government to check that the occupied Tibetans aren't hatching escape plans or just telling the world about the incessant spitting or the disgusting state of the public toilets of the world's new superpower.
So being an undercover investigator in China, armed with hidden camera and in working in Tibet where one can only travel as part of a organised tour group, you can understand why I was a little edgy about revealing all the details on line.
Anyway, I survived and the best way for you understand what I was working on is to read the trip report called "Skinning The Cat - Crime and Politics of the Big Cat Skin Trade". You can download a PDF of it from the EIA website here.
So I'm now back in sunny Bournemouth staying with my brother and travelling to the office as and when I need to, generally about once a week. Not a bad deal huh! The rest of the time I sit around writing reports and soon, to go through the mass if information we uncovered in China and try to make it all make sense.
I do have some other trips planned hopefully before the end of the year. Watch this space!!
